Mindfulness and Meditation App

Role:

Challenge:

Whil is a B2B app delivering meditation content for professionals. As the lead designer for Whil, I was presented with many design problems, mostly centered around increasing engagement. Working closely with Product and Sales, we discovered a significant drop of users after sign up. Why did users sign up and then not use the app?

Solution:

Redesigning the home page helped increase engagement after sign up, by providing the user guidance towards achieving their meditation or mental health goals.

Discovery:

Working with the Customer Success team, I surveyed users on what they wanted to get out of their Whil experience. I also worked with Product and Engineering to deliver UI improvements in the current flow that may be contributing to the drop off. Together we discovered:

User Flows:

Through user and industry research, I found that goal setting was a helpful way to guide users to the right program without feeling overwhelmed.

Wireframes:

Using whiteboard sketches and a paper prototype, I created wireframes to outline the new user flow and apply any changes based on internal feedback.

User Testing:

Before launching, I made a testing round to reveal possible usability problems. I provided a basic prototype to a group of Whil users asking them to sign up and select a goal, while documenting their responses. Taking this feedback I refined the visual design and addressed any usability issues.

Learnings:

Designing for Whil was a great growth period for me as I was able to design solutions that improved people’s health in a fast paced, agile enviornment. It was also challenging as I had to consider partnership restrictions and accessability in my design. I now have a better understanding of desigining for accessability, IOS & Android UI guidelines, and designing for people.
